Malawi's bring Pizza with a Purpose to Virginia

July 28, 2016

The Church Restaurant Group will open the first Malawi's Pizza franchise on the eastern seaboard this fall, according to a news release. The first of five Virginia locations will open then in Fredericksburg and begin — like the other three chain locations — to simultaneously donate meals to children in the African nation of Malawi.

"The cuisine at Malawi's Pizza – Pizza with a Purpose, is fresh and chef-created," said franchisee Patrick Church. "We are truly excited to bring this unique dining experience to the greater area of Fredericksburg. We are also thrilled to be part of the charitable aspect of the business."

For every meal purchased at a Malawi's Pizza restaurant, a wholesome meal is donated to a child in Malawi through its Meal for Meal exchange program. The three Malawi's Pizza restaurants currently in the U.S. have provided more than 767,079 meals to needy children.

"Customers can feel good about their decision to dine with us because it supports the fundamental well-being of others," said CEO and culinary chef, Kent Andersen. "We believe in nurturing not only the people of Malawi, but also within our own community. Pizza with a Purpose is more than a marketing tactic, it is part of who we are as a company."
