Marco's hosts food bank campaign to promote new pizza

Marco's Pizza will introduce its new grilled chicken Florentine pizza on March 24 for a limited time. According to a news release, the new recipe combines authentic Italian and Mediterranean flavors and will complement the brand's premium chicken specialty pizza lineup.

The grilled chicken Florentine pizza includes grilled chicken, parmesan garlic sauce, four cheeses including feta, sliced red onions, sliced tomatoes and spinach, a new topping being added to the Marco's menu.

Marco's will celebrate the launch by supporting National Spinach Day on March 26. At participating stores, Marco's is encouraging customers to trade in one can of spinach for one free medium grilled chicken Florentine pizza, limit one per family. The company will deliver the cans of spinach collected in the trade to local community food banks, the release said.

"At Marco's Pizza, we are always thinking of new ways to enhance the customer pizza experience and the addition of fresh spinach to our menu and a lineup of delicious premium chicken specialty pizzas does just that," said Cathy Hull, Marco's CMO. "We are especially excited to introduce our new Grilled Chicken Florentine pizza as consumer appeal for Mediterranean flavors continues to grow. The flavor profile of our new pizza is sure to please consumer taste buds."

The new pizza was created by Alex Yashchishia, a general manager at Marco's Pizza in Madison, Ala. He was the winner of the annual pizza contest held by the company, and has been an employee of Marco's Pizza since 2008, when he started as a delivery driver.
