A new Detroit-style pizza concept is opening in downtown Detroit, drawing inspiration from a World War II veteran whose legacy helped shape the restaurant's identity.

According to a story on Detroit's WDIV, Unc's Pizza, located in the historic Detroit & Northern Building in Capitol Park, is a collaboration between the owners of Dime Store and Tony Sacco of Mootz Pizzeria + Bar.

Named after co-owner Larry Kahn's Uncle Paul, a WWII veteran and longtime Detroit Edison employee, the restaurant aims to capture the warm, neighborly spirit he embodied while celebrating Detroit's iconic pizza style. The menu pairs Detroit-style pizza with familiar favorites such as mozzarella sticks, wings and tenders, with room for creative twists.
