Papa John's is testing beer delivery just across the Ohio river from its Louisville corporate headquarters in nearby Jeffersonville, Indiana, according to Papa John's Senior Director of Public Relations Peter Collins.
Collins said the testing period will feature five beer varieties in 16-ounce, six-packs via carryout and delivery. Featured brands include Miller Lite, Coors Light, Coors Banquet, Dos Equis and Yuengling.
"We will be testing the Jeffersonville, Indiana initially to monitor consumers' reactions to the test," Collins said. "Papa John's will monitor the business impact in order to understand how to best expand this offering to other markets."
Lest you think this is a first for the brand, Collins said that the very first Papa John's actually operated out of Mick's Lounge in Jeffersonville. At that time, he said beer was also offered as part of the initial menu.
Since the drinking age is 21 for beer, Collins said delivery drivers will request to see valid identification.
