Pizza brands take the season to heart

February 11, 2019

Take-and-bake brand, Papa Murphy's, is among the pizza purveyors this year putting heart-shaped pies out this Valentine's Day, to reel in some customer love. The brand's HeartBaker Pizza is just one part of an LTO that also features a healthy helping of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough for prices starting at $12, though prices may vary by location according to a news release.

The hearty pie can be ordered online and in-store at participating locations nationwide, and features red sauce, mozzarella and pepperoni, guaranteed to become a bubbly beauty after 15 minutes in a 425-degree oven.

"The way people are celebrating Valentine's Day has changed," Papa Murphy's CMO Laura Szeliga said in the release. "Instead of material things, consumers are looking to share experiences that are memorable. The option of baking a delicious scratch-made pizza at home sure beats the idea of fighting the crowds in a restaurant."

Papa Murphy's now has more than 1,400 stores in 37 states, Canada and the United Arab Emirates.

Aside from that take-and-bake heart-shaped offering, brands like California Pizza Kitchen are also offering baked versions of the pies at no additional charge for customers who want to convert their favorite CPK pizza into a very clear symbol of the season on a crispy crust from Feb. 13-17 for dine-in and take-out only.

And now through Feb. 17, CPK is offering digital Valentines to spread the love online with an e-gift card. Likewise, customers can also dine in for the brand's $35 Sweet Deal for Two including an appetizer, two entrées, and a dessert. Pairs can add two glasses of wine to that feast for another $12.
