Less than one month before the Super Bowl, Pizza Hut said this morning that it is adding nearly 300 more stores in Florida, Iowa, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio and more locations in California and Arizona. The brand was said it was first to offer delivered suds to its offerings among pizza brands and plans to push on with more stores in the future.
The rollout is a brand priority, according to a news release, with expectations to grow beer delivery to 1,000 restaurants in new markets by this summer. Like most pizza brands, the February Super Bowl is among the busiest days of the year for Pizza Hut. In fact the brand said a recent survey relayed that 86 of American Super Bowl party hosts planned to serve both pizza and beer.
"As the official Pizza Sponsor of the NFL, we've been celebrating football fans all season long, so it only makes sense for us to bring more customers the beloved combo of pizza and beer ahead of the Super Bowl," Chief Brand Officer Marianne Radley, said in the company release. "We are proud to be pioneers of beer delivery and are well-poised to take on more markets in the coming year."
The brand launched its pilot beer delivery program in December 2017 in Arizona, then expanded to parts of California five months later. The brand said its had strong franchise partner participation in the offering.
"Beer delivery is a game-changing lever that we'll continue to pull in order to deliver oven-hot pizzas with ice-cold beer to customers watching and celebrating their favorite teams," COO Nicolas Burquier said. To qualify for beer delivery, customers must order via phone, app or website and there are added delivery fees. The brand said in an email to Pizza Marketplace that the current beer brands it delivers include Blue Moon, Bud Light, Budweiser, Busch Light, Coors Light, Corona Extra, Kilt Lifter, Michelob Ultra, Miller Lite, Miller High Life, Shock Top and Stella Artois.
