Pizza Hut wants its delivery customers to play with their food or, at least, the box.
Yum, parent company of Pizza Hut, today announced the launch of a delivery box that features a playable flick football field with goal posts, football triangles and a scorecard … and oh, some food, too.
The box comes with any medium pizza or a number of items on its $5 Flavor menu debuted earlier this year. The brand is using this promotion to push sales on that menu and to get customer engagement on Twitter in the days ahead, according to a company press release.
The list of items on the $5 Flavor menu that qualify for one of the "play-able" boxes includes medium one-topping pizzas, wings, stuffed garlic knots, a chocolate chip cookie pizza, brownie, Tuscani pasta, double orders of bread- or flavor-sticks and four 20-ounce beverages.
"We know our fans enjoy a little competition and we're happy to provide a platform that lets them get in on the game in a whole new way while watching their favorite team," said Pizza Hut Chief Marketing Officer David Timm. "The box brings some excitement back to the classic flick football game, and we are proud to bring some entertainment to the table."
Flick Football, also known as paper, finger, Chinese or tabletop football, is played for fun, but Pizza Hut is also using the promotion to get customers to share videos showing off their flickable football capabilities on Twitter. Pizza Hut will then select weekly winners of challenges, including the longest flick, most consecutive made flicks and most creative flick.
