In less than five years, Pizza Hut said all the chicken it serves will be from animals raised without antibiotics important to human medicine. This includes the brand's wings and comes about one year after it completed the same task with the chicken used on its pizzas, a news release said. The chain said the move will make it the first national pizza company committing to an antibiotic policy for chicken wings.
Last year, the brand said it stopped using artificial preservatives in its cheese, while in 2016, it got rid of BHA/BHT from all meats. In 2015, it removed artificial flavors and colors from its core pizzas — the first national brand to do so.
The chain has also removed partially hydrogenated oils and MSG from the menu and, over the last six years, has removed 3 million pounds of salt from its ingredients.
The company said these initiatives were all in response to consumer demand for purer products without any potentially unhealthful ingredients.
