Restaurant Association teams up with Heartland for webinar on EMV liability shift

November 13, 2014

Heartland Payment Systems has partnered with the National Restaurant Association to present a series of restaurant-specific educational webinars. The first webinar will address EMV and the impending liability shift planned for October 2015.

Heartland Payment Systems' Mike English, executive director, product development, and Kristi Kuehn, senior director, compliance, will explain EMV as well as the liability shift during the event.

The NRA's Anna Tauzin, senior marketing manager, innovation and entrepreneurial services, will join English and Kuehn for the hour-long webinar, which will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 19.

Registration for “EMV & Restaurants – What You Need to Know" can be completed online: http://bit.ly/1Azhub6. The agenda will include an EMV overview, timelines for the shift, essential considerations for restaurateurs, and EMV and how it relates to cardholder security and PCI.

EMV compliance is not a government or card brand mandate; rather it is up to the merchant to implement EMV-compliant terminals. According to a news release, brick-and-mortar merchants who do not upgrade by October 2015 could be liable for counterfeit, lost, and stolen card fraud.

Future webinar topics will include mobile payments and ordering, gift and loyalty programs and payroll.
