RetailMeNot jumps into restaurant promotions space

July 2, 2014

RetailMeNot, a digital offers destination, has added restaurants to its roster. RetailMeNot’s promotions partnerships previously just included retailers, such as Macy's and Kohl's, but it has since expanded into the QSR and fast casual segments with 20,000 new offers, according to a news release.

Available through its free RetailMeNot Coupons app for iPhone and Android devices to members who are signed in, the offers can be redeemed on the spot by showing the location-specific offer to waitstaff or cashiers.

All of the offers are location-based and enabled through geo-location technology. The app only shows offers that are in the users’ immediate vicinity.

"Based on recent surveys and user engagement with our existing food content, we know that restaurant offers are highly valued by our users. Because of this, we wanted to expand the content and provide new benefits for our members," VP Brett Billick said in the release. "With geo-location technology our members can now access even more restaurant offers while they are on the go."

To access the restaurant offers, app users need to sign up and become a RetailMeNot member.
