Russo's pizza brands sign deal for Texas expansion

Russo's Restaurants announced today a development deal with veteran franchising entrepreneur Zafar "Jeff" Moosa to expand its presence in three major metro areas of Texas, beginning with the East Campbell Road location in Richardson.

A news release said an agreement finalized this week will also significantly expand Russo's Restaurants' Texas footprint across Dallas, Fort Worth and San Antonio.  

Russo's Restaurants founder and CEO Chef Anthony Russo inked the deal with Moosa to operate both Russo's Coal-Fired Italian Kitchen and Russo's New York Pizzeria locations in the state. Moosa's restaurant franchise investments and operations also include several Taco Bell, Captain D's and Golden Chick locations. 

"Our current pace of growth in Texas - and beyond - is unprecedented for our brands," Russo said in the release. "With Jeff's business acumen behind the Russo's brand, we are equipped to introduce our concepts to more families, friends and business associates."

Russo recently introduced a Next Generation Pizza & Italian restaurant model, designed for on-the-go diners looking for authentic Italian cuisine at shopping malls, strip centers and airports. It offers an open kitchen design and pizza bar. 

In 2018, the brand's key development focus in Texas is on the Dallas and Fort Worth territories in addition to three in-state openings, one in Austin and two in Houston. Beyond Texas, the brand also has a U.S. franchising focus throughout key markets in Florida, the Northeast and the nation's mid-section. The company said it also is targeting key international growth territories in the Middle East, Asia and Western Europe.
