Restaurant customers often take stacks of napkins when they visit with little thought to waste or cost to the business owner, and employees at the drive-thru aren't much better when they toss an equally healthy stack of paper in to-go bags.
Dixie hopes its newest product — a two-ply napkin made from all-recycled materials, which is also compostable — can help control this waste of resources. The product comes in a high-capacity dispenser that cuts down on waste before it even gets a chance to start, according to a company press release.
The Dixie Ultra Interfold 2-Ply Napkin comes in a large dispenser that the company said can reduce usage up to 30 percent. And since employees refill it less frequently, it takes less time away from employees' main duties.
The napkin is fully compostable so it cuts down on landfill waste. It meets or exceeds EPA comprehensive procurement guidelines, so it can help earn LEED credits.
