CiCi's operator recognized for focus on customer service

CiCi's Pizza awarded owner/operator Karl Busch, of El Paso, Texas, with its "2013 Legendary Operator and Manager of the Year" award. The award was presented at the company's annual conference held recently in Frisco, Texas.

According to a company news release, Busch has been with CiCi's Pizza for more than 20 years and owns and operates five restaurants. He was also honored as the "Large Multi-Unit Operator of the Year."

According to the company, Busch was recognized for teaching his team members a "jump the counter" mentality to exceed guests' expectations, which has resulted in him being the No. 1 multi-unit operator in the system.

"For Karl, it's guests first, not profit — always," said CiCi's Pizza Manager Gloria Guerra. "That's why all of the guests we have come back with a big smile, knowing that they are going to be treated like family."

The 2013 Manager of the Year is Jack Semelsberger, of St. Louis, who has been with the company for nine years. He was recognized for his continued support of local charities, schools and other organizations, as well as his attention to service. Semelsberger averages 95 percent in operations metrics, the release said, and is often called upon to share his tools to support underperforming restaurants.
