CiCi’s Pizza is the latest pizza chain to test a create-your-own concept, jumping on board a growing subsegment driven by fledgling fast casual concepts throughout the country.
CiCi’s will showcase this new prototype at a reopening celebration at its restaurant in The Colony, Texas, on July 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The first 100 guests on that day will receive a gift card redeemable for a free personal 9-inch create-your-own pizza each month for a year.
According to an announcement from the company, the new prototype was created to be "a more relevant and contemporary representation of the brand."
The restaurant features a create-your-own Pizza station and new entree salads in addition to the pizza, pasta, salad and dessert counter. Other updates include an expanded beverage bar, and a dining room with new finishes, lighting, community dining tables and open kitchen.
"Our restaurant in The Colony still offers endless pizza at a great price, but with new entrees as well," CEO Darin Harris said in the announcement. "Our new design allows for even more variety and customization that our guests want, in an attractive, family atmosphere that we believe will be welcoming to a wider audience."
CiCi’s will donate 15 percent of sales from the grand reopening day to Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign, and guests may also make additional donations to the organization at the restaurant.
The 4,500-square-foot restaurant is run by General Manager Stephen Northrup, who has been part of the CiCi’s family for three years.
