Cicis reaps rewards of four-year revitalization

Pizza buffet chain Cicis said its 2013 revitalization plan is working, as proven by 16 consecutive quarters of same-store sales growth through Q1 of 2017, a news release said. 

The plan endeavored to refine the brand's market positioning and improve food quality, menu variety and the guest experience. Research from a recent Technomic survey shows the plan is paying off in a 37 percent increase in the number of guests who rated Cicis overall as "excellent" from Q1 2016 to Q1 2017. That's also the period that Cicis rolled out food quality improvements, new buffet offerings and limited time items designed to add fun and flavor exploration.

A new 2016 store design is also helping, the release said, with 40 of the chain's 430 restaurants reimaged by year's end. Likewise, the company has signed multiple franchise partner development agreements for more than 70 restaurant commitments in 12 states, with 15 corporate and franchised restaurant openings planned for this year.
