Domino's Saudi Arabia more accurately delivers via what3words

January 30, 2019

Location technology company, what3words, has partnered with Domino's Pizza to improve deliveries in Saudi Arabia, a news release said. The relationship enables customers to provide their three-word address in English or Arabic and eliminates the need for phone calls about lost deliveries.

The partnership is expected to help the brand deliver hotter, faster pies to precise locations, while eliminating the need for additional direction specifics from customers to deliverers. The brand said one of problems with delivery in the country has been the challenge of communicating the precise location since street addresses are often not used and navigating by landmarks and shared locations can iffy at best.

With what3words, the company has divided the world into 3-by-3-meter squares, then labeled each with three words, so for instance, the address to the Riyadh Domino's is  "jolly.genetics.happy." By using the free what3words app, customers find the three-word address for their location, then share that with the person seeking to get there.

Now when Saudi customers order by phone, they also provide their three-word addresses, giving the brand an accurate location with no ambiguity.

"Three words means no more lost or cold pizza,"what3words co-founder and CEO Chris Sheldrick, said in the release. "Domino's is recognized as one of the most technology-savvy companies in the world, and Saudi Arabia is committed to driving digital innovation across the Kingdom."

The app is available for both iOS and Android, and can be used in 26 languages including Arabic.
