Homegrown Tap & Dough opened its first Colorado Springs restaurant Oct. 27, expanding the brand to seven locations under Denver-based Gastamo Group, the company announced in a news release. The 6,000-square-foot restaurant, located at 5710 S. Carefree Circle, seats 215 guests indoors and another 106 on its patio. The opening marks the first managing partner role for Kelley Compton.

The restaurant serves Homegrown's signature hand-tossed pizzas, pasta dishes and shareable starters, with gluten-free and vegetarian options, alongside Colorado craft beers and handcrafted cocktails. The opening also launches a monthlong community partnership with Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center. Throughout November, Homegrown will donate $1 for every 14-inch pizza sold to the organization, which provides transition and employment assistance, behavioral health and wellness programs, and community resource connections for veterans, active-duty military personnel and their families across Southern Colorado.

"We've been working on our first Colorado Springs restaurant for three years, and we're stoked it's finally here," Peter Newlin, CEO of Gastamo Group, said in the release. "We love this community and wanted to show up as a real neighbor, not just another new restaurant.Partnering with Mt. Carmel in our first full month is how we give back to the people who make Colorado Springs what it is."

The Colorado Springs opening follows a complete redevelopment of the property. The project involved gutting the original building, significantly expanding the patio and adding exterior structures, with architecture and art developed in collaboration with internationally recognized architecture firm HSU Office. Newlin described the project as one of the most ambitious builds in Gastamo Group's history.

The restaurant's design also pays tribute to Colorado Springs' military roots. Its centerpiece is a large American flag installation created by Colorado-based fine artist Dolan Geiman using authentic military memorabilia donated by families locally and nationwide. The piece incorporates handwritten letters exchanged between service members overseas and their families during World War II and the Korean War, along with a U.S. Navy garrison cap, Marine Corps insignia, Naval Reserve patches, wartime songbooks and vintage Colorado keepsakes. A ski patrol gondola and vintage Tenth Mountain Division skis further recognize the World War II Army division that trained in Colorado's high country.
