Pizza Hut funds return of July 4th fireworks at Pearl Harbor

July 2, 2014

Pizza Hut has funded the return of the Fourth of July fireworks at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii. This announcement comes one year after the fireworks show was cancelled at the iconic military base due to budget cuts.

"When we heard last year that the fireworks show was being cancelled at Pearl Harbor-Hickam, we immediately reached out to the base to inquire about providing the funds needed to save it," Doug Terfehr, director of Corporate Social Responsibility, said in a news release. "Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough time to plan and execute the show, so we remained in touch with the base and are honored to be part of the event this year. The military families at Pearl Harbor deserve a world-class fireworks display on Independence Day and we can’t wait to celebrate alongside them."

The fireworks will be part of the annual Independence Day celebration at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam’s Ward Field from 3:30-9:30 p.m. HST this Friday. The Fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m.

Pizza Hut will also hand out free slices of its new BBQ line of pizzas to military personnel and their families.
