San Francisco, CA | October 29, 2024 – According to a recent campus dining trends report, college and university administrators have discovered a powerful tool for enhancing student engagement and satisfaction in on-campus dining services—Limited Time Offers (LTOs). With80% of students considering on-campus dining options as part of their college selection process and over half rating it as 'very important,' universities are implementing trendy drink options, such as boba tea programs, to meet student preferences and foster community.

The concept of LTOs taps into the psyche of Generation Z, often dubbed the 'foodie generation,' who value diversity, personalization, and unique experiences in their dining options. With an impressive91% of consumers more likely to visit establishments offering LTOs, campuses are catering to this sense of excitement and urgency—especially potent among Gen Z—through innovative and rotating menu offerings.

Abby, a Denver university student, expressed her enthusiasm, "My friends and I used to have to go out to get boba. It’s nice to know that if students want to live on campus there’s nice things that they can have."

The impact of LTOs extends beyond culinary satisfaction, positively influencing student retention. Notably, 54% of students report that dining services significantly affect their decision to remain at their chosen institution. By offering trending beverages like boba, campuses create inviting social spaces that encourage students to stay engaged on campus, fostering both social and academic productivity.

Luke, another student from a Colorado-based university, shared, "I definitely don’t come here that often, but now knowing that there’s boba here – it’s definitely enticing me to come more and check it out."

Today’s students crave novelty in their dining options, with 37% feeling their campus dining needs a revamp, according to a 2023 survey. Recognizing these demands, universities succeed by partnering with companies that provide the research and development necessary to continuously introduce new flavors that keep students satisfied and loyal to on-campus dining.

Aligning with seasonal and cultural trends, LTOs offer campuses a chance to stay relevant and cater to evolving student tastes. For instance, the popularity of pumpkin spice products highlights the potential of seasonal LTOs; as evidenced byNielsen's report of a $511 million market in 2019.
