Domino's tests GPS to accurately answer, 'Where's my pizza?'

April 29, 2019

Domino's began testing GPS driver tracking Monday in 27 corporate-owned stores throughout Phoenix. The company said in a news release that customers around those locations who place orders may track exactly where they are through a map on the brand's website or app order confirmation page.

Along with that capability, customers also get an ETA and can get SMS notifications when orders are about 2 minutes away.

"We're excited to offer this feature to our customers," Domino's Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer Dennis Maloney, said in the release. "Transparency on orders that are out on the road makes a big difference to customers, as well as drivers and store managers. With GPS tracking everyone can have the best possible delivery experience."

The feature provides drivers with optional navigation and one-touch customer callback capabilities, and store managers have a driver-tracking screen to enhance efficiency.

The brand said its extending the pilot to select stores in Lansing, Michigan, as well as Roanoke, Virginia, and the suburban Seattle-Tacoma, Washington, area.
