Few, if any, current trends in the foodservice realm can top delivery and sustainable operations. Enter, the on-demand network  PostMates, which has expanded its zero-emissions fleet initiative in the Pacific Northwest with e-bikes, according to a news release.

Postmates' launch of @RideGenZe e-Bike delivery fleet service in Seattle and Portland through a partnership expansion with GenZe, puts many more local couriers in the electric bike saddle in a cost-effective, eco-friendly way that fits with customers' growing demands for brands that not only deliver to them, but also operate in ways that respect the environment.

To mark the fleet milestone in the Pacific Northwest, Postmates and Veggie Grill are offering free delivery of the restaurant brand's new fall "meatless" menu across Seattle and Portland. This latest Postmates initiative builds on previous successes with two-wheel electric vehicle initiatives in New York and San Francisco earlier this year.

That pilot program recently reached a milestone of 100 GenZe 2.0e model e-Scooters on the roads of New York City, for a total of 250 GenZe electric vehicles currently in use for Postmates deliveries nationally.

"As technology has created new opportunities for businesses to distribute their products, for citizens to connect with the cities around them, and for workers to flexibly supplement their income, Postmates recognizes that we also have a mission to help cities build a thriving, sustainable future that works for everyone," Postmates Vice President of Business Operations Vivek Patel said in the news release. "E-Bikes allow us to reduce our carbon footprint while making a positive impact on the bottom line for our couriers."

GenZe CMO Tom Valasek said the success of large metro area two-wheel vehicle operations prove how effective these "cleaner" vehicles can be, especially in crowded, traffic-jammed cities.

"From a practical standpoint, nothing is more efficient than an e-Bike for short-distance transportation in cities," he said in the release. "These vehicles offer couriers a low-cost, low-maintenance, no-hassle way to get around town and increase deliveries.

"Our e-Bikes can go anywhere a conventional bicycle can go, but with the added benefit of electric power. Plus, GenZe e-Bikes have a removable battery that conveniently and quickly recharges with a standard wall outlet — allowing couriers to make more stops per hour, without refueling at a gas station or sitting in traffic."
