Pizza Hut set an all-time single-day digital sales record on Super Bowl Sunday, amassing nearly $12 million in sales (previous record $10 million) with the highest rate of change coming from orders via mobile Web and mobile app. More than 60 percent of digital orders were placed via a smart device, according to a company press release. Mobile orders represented roughly one-third of total sales.

"Pizza Hut is intensively focused on giving consumers what they want from a digital ordering experience, and the response we've seen to that strategy has been incredible," said Jeff Fox, chief brand and concept officer for Pizza Hut. "We want to take the time to thank our fans for choosing us on Sunday as we know that there are a lot of choices out there. We're proud to say that we deliver the best digital experience possible, combined with our superior restaurant-quality food and award-winning customer service."

Pizza Hut has continued to make usability improvements to its suite of digital ordering options after hearing that its consumers want it to be easier to order a pizza, the release stated.

"Throughout the history of our company we have always demonstrated that we will make the improvements needed for our customers first, then our business," Fox said. "Our position of leadership in the digital experience has never been stronger and yesterday's record breaking Big Game customer response says just that."

Pizza Hut introduced Stuffed Garlic Knots Pizza just in time for the Super Bowl. Available for a limited-time, the Stuffed Garlic Knots Pizza features 16 cheese-stuffed garlic knots on the crust of a large pizza, served with one topping and two dipping cups of marinara sauce for $12.99. The Stuffed Garlic Knots Pizza was a popular item Sunday, as one of the company's all-new $5 Flavor Menu. Pizza Hut also offered a special-edition "Golden Garlic Knot" Pizza for 50 fans in honor of the Golden Anniversary of Super Bowl.
