Tofutti Brands enters pizza market with dairy-free mozzarella

Tofutti Brands has rolled out a new dairy-free mozzarella cheese. With this launch, Tofutti Brands plans to enter into the pizza marketplace with an offering for lactose-intolerant consumers.

"We wanted to make the absolute ultimate creamy smooth dairy-free alternative for pizza lovers," said Tofutti's founder, David Mintz.

The new mozzarella is not only dairy free, it also has no hydrogenated fats or oils and is transfat free. It is estimated there are 69 million lactose-sensitive Americans, 7.5 million vegans and 22 million consumers seeking dairy alternatives.

"All too often people who can't eat dairy ask the question, 'What about me?'" Mintz said. "We've decided to address that question with an effort to ultimately bring the Tofutti mozzarella to a major U.S. pizza chain."
